When I attended the NAEA art education convention in San Diego this year I was inspired by Hiep and the rest of the circle painting gang. You can check out more about them and all of the circle painting projects
they have worked on across the globe by visiting their website.
For the end of the school year, I collaborated with my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to create these large scale circle paintings on tar paper. We remained standing for the majority of this project in order to have a larger range of motion. We began by painting large circles with a variety of colors of acrylic paint. Then we added line and shape details with smaller paint brushes. The final layer of detail, when we zoomed in with our imaginary "art goggles" was done with metallic sharpies!
